Barnett gets sentenced for manslaughter

A 54-year-old Auglaize County man with a history of drug abuse since he was in his teens received his sentence in the death of a friend who died in a trailer fire while they were making a drug.

‘Side by Side’ affair

Photography and watercolors do not typically coincide in a piece of artwork, however, at Riverside Art Center, the two will be hanging “Side by Side.”
Watercolor painter Barb Sailor, of Jackson Center, and photographer Pamela Baker, of Spencerville, are collaborating in Riverside Art Center’s upcoming exhibit, “Side by Side.”
The two artists met in 2010 via fineartamerica.com, a website where anyone can browse through other artists’ work.

Montezuma man arrested for sex crimes

A Montezuma man was arrested late Monday as part of an investigation into sexually oriented offenses involving minors which occurred in Wapakoneta.

Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said Timothy S. Workman, 43, of Montezuma, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. in St. Marys in connection with the case. Workman is being held at the Auglaize County Jail.

Behind a cone of water, a group of firefighters push forward approaching a flame, which climbs to 30 or more feet in the air. The flame jumps and whips in the breeze.
In unison, the firefighters move closer and closer to the source as the fire curls back around the “fog spray” of water and hovers a few feet above their heads. This is a propane fire, which requires a different approach than a typical house fire.

Lending a hand

As clouds of dust dotted the sky along Townline Lima Road, a Clay Township farmer’s heart ached as he watched friends and neighbors harvest his soybeans.
“This is true love here,” Don Regula said with a smile as tears formed in his eyes.
“It’s neighbors helping neighbors,” he said as he talked about the 30 people who came to help, taking a day off school or work, and in many cases a perfect day off from harvesting their own beans to help another farmer in need. “These guys have all got acres and acres at home and they gave up their fuel, equipment and time to help me.”
