A day filled with the magic of Christmas â reindeer, carriage rides, Christmas parade, Santa Claus â all started when one local woman decided downtown Wapakoneta could use more color and festivities during the holiday season.
Colored lights, Children's Hometown Holiday Chair Elaine Poppe said, are what children enjoy during the holidays. They enjoy Santa Claus and believing in the magic of Christmas. For these reasons, Poppe began a project to build Wapakoneta a Santa Outpost â a project which the city has watched grow over the past seven years.Â
John Vorhees is 23 years old, and he needs a kidney.
John John, as his family calls him, has been in kidney failure for four years. Doctors have told the family he suffers from MTGN Type 3, an incredibly rare immune system deficiency, explained his dad, also John Vorhees.
âAll we know is this is very rare; the doctor told us that from the beginning,â Vorhees said. âWe just donât know.â
