Time to remember veterans at Christmas

December 16, 2013

For many families, the holidays are a time for sharing memories and celebrations. One local organization is reaching out to the community to help give this experience to those who may be forgotten this time of year.
Freedom’s Colors will be hosting its 14th annual Christmas dinner and program on Saturday for the veterans who reside in the Alzheimer’s ward at the Dayton Veterans Hospital.

Locals remember veterans’ sacrifices

December 16, 2013

Remembering local veterans, members of the community spent their Saturday laying wreaths on gravesides throughout Auglaize County.
“All the veterans that we laid wreathes on today, they were all killed in the line of duty in a foreign war,” Freedom’s Colors Ralph Reynolds said Saturday.
The act of laying a wreath on the veterans’ graves showed their families that they are not forgotten, despite how many died more than 30 years ago, Reynolds said.
“They’re the ones that never made it home,” Reynolds said. “They made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.”
