WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield-Goshen High School junior Mindy Brookhart is a self-motivator.
A look at her schedule makes it easy for people to believe her.
Brookhart, who has been a football cheerleader since the second grade, is a basketball cheerleader for the first time this year. The daughter of Heidi and Tom Brookhart has two older brothers, Troy, 18, and Paul, 21.
She keeps herself so busy, she spends her spare time just catching up on the necessities of life.
With only a couple hours left on this city worker’s last day, he is checking his notes and going over files.
On Friday, Wapakoneta Engineering Department technician Jim Harpest ignored cutting a cake in his honor and instead reviewed 10 pages of notes he made to help others in the office after he leaves.
An annual children’s holiday event drew hundreds of children and adults to Wapakoneta this weekend, as the event organizer says many factors contributed to the large turnout.
Children made holiday memories to last a lifetime Saturday as they filled downtown Wapakoneta streets during the sixth annual Children’s Hometown Holiday.
“There are huge crowds,” Children’s Hometown Holiday organizer Elaine Poppe said, “more than last year.”
Due to warm weather arriving in the area, Wapakoneta City Schools and St. Marys City Schools are operating on a 2-hour delay this morning. If any changes are announced, they will be posted. Have a safe morning and a good day.

Auglaize County Engineer Doug Reinhart met with Auglaize County commissioners to review budget needs for the sewer, geographical information systems, tax map department and highway budgets for the upcoming year.
The sewer district budget is to increase by 10 percent to approximately $204,000, primarily due to employment changes within the department.
Books are great for academic study, and many schools have focused on certain classics such as “Moby Dick” by Herman Melville and “Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain, just to name a couple.
However, sometimes the creator’s heart and feeling can be lost in the translation on pages.
Carols and crafts and a special visit by Sadie helped bring smiles to faces of residents at Auglaize Acres.
Roots and Shoots of Auglaize County garden club members visited with Acres residents, passed out baskets as gifts and sang Christmas carols.

With bows in her hair and wearing a pretty dress, 5-year-old Sophie Braun slides red-and-white beads on a red pipe cleaner to make a candy cane.
The youngster from Botkins concentrates on her craft as she waits for her chance to visit Santa Claus, who visited the Wapakoneta branch of the Auglaize County Public District Library on Monday.
“I want an American Doll and a Barbie,” Sophie says, peering through her glasses. “I want Carolyn, she’s the American Doll, and I want Barbie and Pop Star.”
WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield Village Council members unanimously voted Monday to create a new village position.
Officially the position will be a new class of general laborer. The person hired to the position will have the responsibility of general village maintenance.
