Emergency dilemma

WAYNESFIELD —Waynesfield Village Council members have been forced to schedule two special meetings for later this week after two village councilors voted against suspending the rule of three readings and declaring an emergency that would have made transfers from certain fund to others and would have appropriated other funds to their proper accounts.

Village Clerk Judith Quinlan requested $43,350 be appropriated into various accounts and another $17,500 be transferred  in an effort to pay various bills that were due or coming due soon.

WASS hosts fall alley party

Local downtown shops are getting together to host a fall festival.

Pickin’ in the Alley is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, in the alley, behind Casa Chic and Fern Hill Farmhouse.

“This is our first year for this, and we thought it would be fun,” Casa Chic co-owner and Wapakoneta Antique and Specialty Shops (WASS) President Landa Tomlinson said.

NK school treasurer to retire

NEW KNOXVILLE — After more than two decades of service, a local school official has announced her retirement.

New Knoxville Board of Education members approved the retirement of Treasurer Marcia Wierwille during Monday’s meeting. Her retirement is effective Jan. 31.

“It’s bittersweet,” Wierwille told board members.

Board President Phil Kuck thanked Wierwille for her service to the school.

“I want to thank Marcia for her many, many years of service,” Kuck said. “Enjoy the next step.”
