A pair of St. Marys siblings could be found Wednesday afternoon preparing their calves for the upcoming show.
Lee Ann Bertke and her brother, Todd, were brushing their two calves, creating shiny coats, and making sure they were in tip-top condition for the judges before the Junior Fair Beef Breeding and Feeder Calf Show.
“My favorite part is showing how much I accomplished and just going out there and having fun,” Lee Ann said.
With drought conditions likely resulting in crop failure and drying up any cash reserves set aside by Ohio farmers, Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown called on members of the U.S. House of Representatives to match the U.S. Senate and pass their five-year farm bill instead of the House’s “fairly pathetic” one-year deal.
Twenty supplemental contracts for the 2012-13 school year were approved by the Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education during a regular meeting this week.
Contracts approved pending satisfactory completion of criminal records checks include:
• Suzanne Temple, half adviser for Art Club, approximately $1,023.
• Kim Wheeler, half adviser for Art Club, approximately $906.
• Adam Friemering, Academic Team, approximately $2,047.
• Lisa Romer, French Club, approximately $2,047.
