On Monday, July 2 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Wapakoneta Daily News will be accepting non perishable food items in exchange for entries into a drawing for 2 Stage Front 3 Day passes and Preferred Parking to Country Concert.
One entry per canned good or non perishable item donated, limit 10 entries per person, must be 18 to enter, employees and immediate family of Horizon Publication are not eligible to win, need not be present to win and drawing will take place at 5:01 p.m. today.
All items will go to God's Storehouse.

Return to normalcy: Wapak restores power, ready for clean-up

Electric power should be restored to Wapakoneta city consumers as crews worked throughout the weekend, the mayor says, after straight-line winds Friday downed power lines, felled trees and caused extensive property damage.

He also noted additional services should be forthcoming to help deal with the aftermath.

Basics about roping

With a few weeks left until the Auglaize County Fair, a local 4-H group held a roping clinic to get some practice before the big event.

The Horse and Pony Pioneers 4-H Club hosted a roping seminar at the fairgrounds on Sunday, and a certified roping judge and a county roping program organizer helped demonstrate the basics of roping for the participants in attendance.

“I try to teach them that a rope is their friend,” Auglaize County roping competition judge Tom Baldwin said, “and not their enemy.”
