A city administrators says he hopes to learn more about state and federal requirements calling for the demolition of structures existing in a flood plain if the structure sustains more than 50 percent damage during an event.
Safety-Service Director Bill Rains is scheduled to attend a conference on the matter next week in Columbus to gain a firmer grasp on the policy and to report back to Mayor Rodney Metz and Wapak-oneta City Council members.
Seventeen people, including 10 from Wapakoneta, have been arrested on various drug charges after a five-month investigation by the Grand Lake Drug Task Force.
In a news release this morning, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said 19 people have been indicted by an Auglaize County grand jury.
The busts covered a variety of hard drugs including the sale of heroin, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, bath salts and prescription medications. Two vehicles were impounded and a substantial amount of powder cocaine and drug paraphernalia was recovered.
A teacher who started out as a physical education instructor found her passion to be teaching sixth-grade language arts.
Paula Quatman, who recently retired from the Wapakoneta City School District, enjoyed being a sixth-grade teacher at Wapakoneta Middle School.
“I love being a sixth-grade teacher,” Quatman said. “It’s an interesting age. They are eager to learn. They understand humor and are pretty sweet kids.”
