While Dominion Gas has started replacing natural gas lines and laterals, Wapakoneta administrators received official notice the city was awarded $330,028 for the East Benton Street reconstruction project.
The Ohio Public Works Commission notified the city of the award late last week.
Running paint brushes over walls and dressing room fixtures of Mercy Unlimited, Wapakoneta Electric Department and Public Works Department employees donated their time Saturday to a national Day of Caring effort by the United Way.
The group donated their time last year as well. Last year, they found themselves working at the downtown Wapakoneta thrift store but repairing flood damage then.
An interest in a career in fashion design has led a Wapakoneta Elementary School fourth-grader to create her own business.
Emma Nolte, 10, enjoys sketching designs for clothes in her spare time. She watches wedding dress shows on TV for inspiration and then puts her ideas together for her own fashions.
After sketching her ideas for clothing for several years, Emma said she wants to be a fashion designer when she grows up.
