Capt. demoted: Dishonesty insubordination alleged after investigation

City administrators demoted a Wapakoneta Fire Department captain alleging “dishonesty” and a “failure to follow directives.”

The firefighter claims he is being disciplined for his inability to recall the exact  comments, times and dates he made comments to Wapakoneta City Council members as a private citizen and the fact his memory is faulty should not be constituted as “lying.”

Issues voiced over plans

BOTKINS — Approximately 60 people turned for a special Botkins Local School Board of Education meeting Monday to discuss plans for the new school building.

Board members came to the meeting with a petition circulated and signed by 81 residents expressing concerns they had with the school.

Botkins Local School District residents approved a 7.99-mill property tax levy on Nov. 8 to build a new school and provide money to maintain those facilities for a maximum of 35 years.

Local Marine surprises cousin

A 5-year-old boy thought it was just a normal day at his preschool until he was pleasantly surprised by his older cousin — Kevin Creviston, who he has not seen in two years.

Creviston, who is a member of the U.S. Marines and who has been in training in Japan, California and Hawaii for the past two years, surprised his young cousin, Michael Brown, who attends preschool at New Beginnings Early Childhood Development Center, on Monday afternoon.
