First came a ninja, then a baby banana, followed by a fairy with flourescent green wings — they all visited a clown sitting on the front porch of her 118 N. Wentz St. home.
For more than three decades, 70-year-old Nancy Ainsworth has donned a costume — from a witch to a clown, from a butterfly to a list of others through the years — to pass out candy to celebrate trick or treat with the children of Wapakoneta.
Officials from the West Ohio Food Bank in Lima arrived at Mercy Unlimited Inc. in downtown Wapakoneta Thursday and alerted them they were terminating their contract to provide food to the pantry at a discounted price.
A letter, dated Thursday and was addressed to Tammy Brown with the Mercy Unlimited food pantry, stated “My recent inspection of your facility, on behalf of West Ohio Food Bank, did not find everything in compliance with our state and federal regulations.”
Wapakoneta Poliice Department officers are still looking for male suspect who robbed a fuel tank driver at the Clark gasoline station in downtown Wapakoneta at 1:06 a.m. today.
A 38-year-old Willshire man was delivering fuel to the gasoline station when the suspect produced a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said in a news release. The suspect then fled on foot from the scene.
