With a tight city budget already in 2012, Wapakoneta City Council Finance Committee members and the mayor favor an earlier start on the budget process for 2013.
Wapakoneta 3rd Ward Councilor and Finance Committee Chair Bonnie Wurst says she intends to contact City Auditor Gail Walter about having spreadsheets showing expenses for the first nine months this year so they can extrapolate year-end totals and start the budget process for next year.
Local students and fans will be wearing pink during sporting events this week and next week all for one cause — to raise awareness for breast cancer.
With October being breast cancer awareness month, the Wapakoneta Redskins will host a soccer, a volleyball and a football game, and the fans can dress up in pink, by purchasing a t-shirt through the Wapakoneta Athletic Boosters, to wear for these games.
This is the second year Wapakoneta has participated in this type of fundraiser.

Most people in attendance expressed comments backing the move to unincorporate the village as the best financial scenario for the village and its residents. However, several addressed concerns for the switch, which would surrender governing powers to the Union Township Trustees.
