All’s well that ends for Wells

For the first time in nearly 15 years, Wapakoneta City Council Clerk Carlene Koch will not read Wilbur Wells name during roll call at the beginning of  tonight’s council meeting.

He no longer is a public servant after deciding early last year that 2011 would be the last of his 14 years serving as a councilor-at-large, the last decade as chair of council’s Finance Committee.

With one shared educator position already in the works for the Auglaize County OSU Extension Office, the possibility of others in the future are being discussed.

“Looking down the road, there is the possibility of sharing an ag agent,” Auglaize County Commissioner John Bergman said.

Eagle Scout honors firefighters

In November 2010, 16-year-old Zach Orchard was trying to come up with an idea for an Eagle Scout project.

He finally decided on an Eagle Scout project — one that would honor firefighters and his father.

“I was bouncing around options and I thought about my dad being a firefighter,” Orchard said. “I think what they do is amazing.”

From that point the choice was easy.
