Committee seats set: President names councilors to committee posts

With the departure of one long-time councilor, Wapakoneta City Council President Steve Henderson says he shuffled members on committees to match the best people to the challenges confronting the city.

“I think every committee is important and the work they do is vital to the success of the city,” Henderson said. “I hopefully have matched the interests and strengths of the councilors to the committees that best suit their talents.”

Two separate fires take barn, house

A house and family pets and a barn and its contents were all lost in New Year’s Eve fires in Logan Township.

Buckland Volunteer Fire Department Chief Todd Vorhees said he expects both to be total losses from what he described as “two major fires.”

Patricia and John Joseph were displaced from their two-story home after it caught fire while they were gone Saturday night.

Sister Cities plan adult trip

Local adults have the opportunity to travel to Germany — be submerged in the European culture, sight see and enjoy the German history — this summer for two weeks.

The Wapakoneta Sister Cities is hosting a “Taste of Germany Adult Trip” informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Wapakoneta Family YMCA in the small group room. This trip is open to any adult interested in traveling to Germany with the organization.

Coordinators of the trip will go over the trip information, answer questions and set a date for trip deposits.
