“Bath salts” are now a banned substance in the city of Wapakoneta.
With passage of an ordinance regarding an epidemic of the designer drugs, “bath salts” and other synthetic cannabinoids and synthetic drugs can no longer be sold, purchased or used in the city of Wapakoneta. Wapakoneta City Council members suspended the rule of three readings and passed the ordinance as an emergency to permit the legislation to take affect immediately.
Auglaize County Health Department officials plan to use the last of its H1N1 funding from the state to further develop emergency preparedness efforts both of its staff and the local community.
Auglaize County Health Board members approved two contracts during their meeting Tuesday to move forward with a survey of the community on its emergency preparedness within the home and with a professional in the public sector of the emergency
preparedness field for training of the health department’s staff and emergency responders.
BUCKLAND — In the only major action taken Tuesday, Buckland Village Council members voted to accept a loan in anticipation of building a new sewer system for the village at its council meeting.
The village has been in talks with Rural Community Assistance Program consultant Julie Ward after learning that the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was mandating them to begin plans to update the sewer system. Currently, each resident has independently-operated septic tanks.
The village will build a centrally-tied sewer system once final plans are made.
