It's that time of the year again for your favorite ice cream shops to open up and serve delicious ice cream. 

At Max's Dairy Bar, 901 Bellefontaine St., new owners are putting a smile on the faces of their customers. In Saturday's March 21 edition of the Wapakoneta Daily News, we have a two-part story on the new owners, where they came from, the impact the community has had on them so far and what ultimately drove them to become owners of Max's Dairy Bar.

Redskins compete in all-star dual

LIMA — Eight members of the Wapakoneta High School wrestling team competed Wednesday in the Lima Area Wrestling Coaches Association’s first ever Dream Team/All Star Dual.

Tyler Copeland, Dallas Ambos, Dylan Plaugher, Heath Newman, Landon Hall, Brad Beemer, Jayden Hefner and Drew Robenalt all competed on behalf of the Redskins.

Suspended teacher wants trial date delayed in sex abuse case

The defense attorney for Lori A. Anderson, who faces charges, along with her ex-husband, in a sex abuse case, has filed a motion to vacate the April 6 trial date. In the motion, attorney Richard M. Kerger, of Toledo, states the defendant has not received all of the discovery to which she is entitled.

W-G board approves Chromebooks for students

The Waynesfield-Goshen Board of Education on Tuesday approved a lease agreement to provide students in grades six through 12 with their own Chromebooks as part of the district's one-to-one computing initiative.

Four local athletes named all-district

March 17, 2015

Four local basketball players earned Special Mention honors within the Northwest District, as the Associated Press released Friday the end-of-season all-district teams for the 2014-15 high school basketball season.

Adam Henderson, Carly Buzzard, Maddi Stiles of Wapakoneta and Abbie Van Horn of Waynesfield-Goshen were named Special Mention performers for their efforts on the hardwood this winter.

AIP Logistics appear in court

Representatives of AIP Logistics, 300 Industrial Drive, Wapakoneta, will make their court appearance today at 10 a.m. in the Auglaize County Common Pleas Courtroom with regard to gas leaks in August, November and December of last year.

The case has been rescheduled once the city of Wapakoneta filed a motion to intervene last month.

Lima man killed in two-vehicle crash

March 16, 2015

Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash on state Route 67.
Jason A. Lashlee, Jr, 20, of Lima, drove left of center and struck a vehicle driven by Tracey A Regula, 36, of Wapakoneta.
Lashlee was pronounced dead at the scene by Auglaize County Coroner. Regula was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Wapakoneta EMS.
The crash occurred at 6:42 a.m. Monday. A partial story is in Monday's newspaper. A more complete story will be in Tuesday's newspaper as information becomes available.

Copeland 5th, Hall 6th at state

March 14, 2015


Tyler Copeland finished fifth and Landon Hall placed sixth as they concluded their appearances in the state championships Saturday.

The two Wapakoneta Redskins sophomores each entered the final day of the Division II state meet in the consolation semifinals Saturday and lost their first match to move into the fifth-place consolation match.
