Youth Night at the Auglaize County Fair Gospel Tent will be filled by praise and worship music this year.
The band â€śAt The Crossâ€ť is bringing new-age music along with worship music for the youth crowd at the fair on Youth Night, which is Wednesday, Aug. 3.
This is the second year for Rodney Ritchie, of Unleashed Youth Ministries, to help Tom Knoch, of the Gospel Tent Committee, with finding talent to perform for Youth Night at the Gospel Tent. Ritchieâ€™s goal is to help
bring up the attendance during Youth Night in the Gospel Tent at the fair.
Julie Diane Schaub 51, of Botkins, went to be with the Lord at 9:26 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011.
She was born Aug. 14, 1959, to Dorthy (Harpest) and Kenneth Clayton, who survive in Quincy. On July 23, 1977, she married Rick J. Schaub, who survives in Botkins.
Regina B. Aselage, 97, formerly of McCartyville, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Dorothy Love Nursing Home.
She was born May 3, 1914 in St. Patrick, to the late Anna (Schmitmeyer) and Henry Hoying. On Aug. 17, 1939, she married Clemens J. Aselage and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2011.
Jack Christian Holbrook, 8, of Cridersville, passed away at his home Thursday, July 14, 2011, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 23, 2003, in Lima, the son of Shannon Spencer, of Cridersville, who survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Grace; grandparents, Jon and Christy Golden, of Wapakoneta; great grandparents John and Diana Golden, of Wapakoneta; and an aunt Ashley Golden, of Wapakoneta, who Jack adored.
He attended Cridersville Elementary. He was also a member of Shawnee Community United Methodist Church.
To date, six change orders have been approved for the Auglaize County Courthouse renovation project.
Auglaize County Administrator Joe Lenhart said itâ€™s about what they expected going into the approximately $8 million project, facing unknown factors particularly in the basement and attic areas.
â€śWe were advised to allow for $250,000 in contingencies,â€ť Lenhart said. â€śWeâ€™re at about $100,000 in change orders and weâ€™re getting most of the way through the unknowns.â€ť
In total, there have been four change orders for general contractor Peterson Construction amounting to approximately $114,540.
Artists at a local nursing home had the opportunity to submit their work to a regional contest â€” in which a few received top places.
Auglaize Acres had a handful of residents who placed in the top three and received honorable mentions at the Art and Writing Competition, which was sponsored by LeadingAge Ohio, which is the advocate of not-for-profit services for older Ohioans.
â€śThis contest got me excited and the residents excited,â€ť Auglaize Acres Activities Coordinator Barb King said.
A Lima man was arrested early Sunday morning on breaking and entering charges after a homeowner reported suspicious behavior at his property.
Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon released information about the burglary this morning.
Deputies arrested Jeremiah J. Bayman, 33, for entering a garage to a residence.
A homeowner on Ohio 67 reported suspicious behavior involving several people to the Auglaize County Sheriffâ€™s Office at 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Upon deputies arrival, Bayman and others, of Lima, claimed their vehicle had run out of gas.
ST. HENRY â€” Minster starting pitcher Austin Knapke had no tomorrow in the best-of-three series to decide a district ACME champion.
Knapkeâ€™s pitching and some timely hits have Minster in prime position for a state berth.
Ryan Hoying hit a two-run home run and Knapke frustrated Cavalier batters for six innings in the Wildcatsâ€™ 3-1 win over Coldwater in the first game of the ACME district championship series on Thursday night.
Knapke, along younger brother Andrew who started at second base on Thursday, are unavailable for tonightâ€™s action because of a family wedding.
Hazel M. Goodwin, 89, 1103 Indiana Avenue, St. Marys, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at her sonâ€™s residence in Elida.
She was born Nove. 22, 1921, in Montezuma, the daughter of Mary (Peggs) and Wilbur Ritchie. On Aug. 1, 1942, she married Forrest â€śRedâ€ť Goodwin and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Jerry (Mary) Goodwin, of Elida; and a daughter, Kelli Burch, of St. Marys.
She was preceded in death by a son, Forrest Goodwin,Jr.
Robert (Bob) Hageman, 66, died of respiratory failure at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at Banner Good Samaritan Health Center near Phoenix, Ariz. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was born Feb. 15, 1945, in Sidney, the son of Mary and Henry Henry Hageman.
