Wind project considers county

An international renewable energy company is considering Auglaize County as a site for a wind farm.
U.S. Mainstream Renewable Power Inc. has completed preliminary studies for a proposed 100-megawatt project in portions of Duchouquet, Logan and Moulton townships, said Greg Myers, president of the Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council.
“The company plans to continue to conduct in depth analysis throughout 2012 to further determine the wind speeds and the overall feasibility for the development of a wind generation project,” Myers said.

Part of odor cause eradicated

Before Christmas, at least one possible source of an irritating odor is expected to be eradicated at Cridersville Elementary School.
Crews are working this week to put sealer down on floors in affected rooms where carpet had been laid.
“It’s designed to seal in any off-gasing odors coming from the concrete,” Wapakoneta City Schools Superintendent Keith Horner said.
He said with the carpet and adhesive in several rooms, including the music room, office and library, the smell seems to have disappeared.

Patricia Wagner, 80

Patricia R. “Pat” Wagner, 80, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:53 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

Franklin Rostorfer, 76

December 1, 2011

Franklin R. Rostorfer, 76, of rural Wapakoneta, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 30, 2011, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Arrangements are incomplete at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.

Michael Alge, 58

December 1, 2011

Michael Dean Alge, 58, of Brighton, Mich., and formerly of St. Marys, died at 3:27 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.
He was born Aug. 19, 1953, in Bluffton, the son of Doris Riegle and Jack Alge. On March 31, 1976, in St. Marys, he married Diana Lynn Hawkey, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Ryan Michael Alge, of Columbus, and two daughters, Amanda Lynn Bales, of Beavercreek, and Christina Sue Alge, of Brighton, Mich.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Miller Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys.

L. G. Carmean, 87

L. G. “Sonny” Carmean, 87, 14888 Ohio 66 North, St. Marys, died at 1:06 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Golden Living Center – Valley in St. Marys.
He was born September 24, 1924, in St. Marys, to Cina (Bowman) and Stephen Carmean. On April 10, 1948, in Wapakoneta, he married Evelyn Clara Koenig, who died August 30, 2003.
Surviving is a son, Terry Carmean, of St. Marys; and a daughter, Diane (David) Blackburn, of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Carmean; and a daughter Christine Marie Woods.

Debra Richeson, 58

Debra Sue “Debi" Richeson, 58, of Spencerville, died at 8:59 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Dec. 8, 1952, in Lima, the daughter of M. Joan Gossard and John I. Boyer. On Dec. 26, 1971, she married Aaron Gregory Richeson who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Kevin Gregory Richeson, of Spencerville; and three daughters, Jennifer Sue Richeson, of Hilliard, Melissa Erin Richeson, of Columbus, and Kymm Leigh-Ann Richeson, of Columbus.

James Romaker, 64

December 1, 2011

James F. Romaker, 64, of Lima, died at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born May 24, 1947, in Columbus, to Katherine June ‘Kate’ Bonfiglio and James Richard Romaker, his mother survives in Lima and his father preceded him in death. On Oct. 5, 1974, he married Barbara Ann Woolf and she survives in Lima.

BOWLING: Redskins remain unbeaten

The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys and girls bowling teams are off to matching 2-0 starts after posting wins Saturday at Community Lanes in Minster.

The boys team rolled to a 2,723-2,193 over Marion Local.

Zach Miller bowled a high round of 213 for the Redskins, the fifth-best round of the day in the 16-team event.

Chandler Kaeck turned in a 204. And Luke Manger notched a 186.

The Versailles Tigers are in first place in the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference standings with a 2-0 record and a 971 team average. Wapak is second with a 956 team average.
