A church service is planned to pray for the local children whose lives are touched by a life threatening or life changing illness.
The fourth annual Children of Hope Community Praise and Worship Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at St. Mark‚Äôs Lutheran Church, 302 E. Pearl St., Wapakoneta.
‚ÄúThis worship is a way for the community and family and friends to offer love, care, support, and prayers for these youth and their families,‚ÄĚ the Rev. Mark Bauer, pastor of St. Mark‚Äôs Lutheran Church, said.

Rod Sidel announced on Friday that the City Bakery will officially open at 5 a.m. Monday.
The bakery, located at 20 W. Auglaize St. in downtown Wapakoneta, closed July 1 when natural gas to the building was turned off due to an inability to pay the bill. The store is owned by Rod Sidel, who had taken over the family business approximately seven years ago. The bakery has been in the same location since 1885 and had been in the family since the 1970s.
WAYNESFIELD ‚ÄĒ Six people are challenging for two open spots on Waynesfield Village Council at the Nov. 8 election.
One incumbent, Ronda Knox, is on the ballot with five newcomers. Councilor Chris Wilson opted not to run for another term.
James Caster, 42, 602 Morning Glory Drive, is a relatively new resident to the village, only living there a few years. However, he said he feels he has a lot to offer to the village.
‚ÄúI had several people approach me and encourage me to run,‚ÄĚ Caster said. I thought I should take them up on it and see what happens.‚ÄĚ
FRANKLIN ‚ÄĒ Another slow start, another strong finish.
But not just any win ‚ÄĒ the second playoff win in school history.
The Wapakoneta Redskins scored 18 unanswered points to overcome an early deficit and pull away to a 24-13 win over the Franklin Wildcats (9-2) in a Division II regional football quarterfinal Friday night at Atrium Stadium in Franklin.
Wapak upped its record to 10-1 on the season and earned a trip to Piqua High School next Friday where the Redskins will take on the No. 1-ranked Trotwood-Madison Rams in regional semifinal action.
George Budd ‚ÄėPete‚Äô Winegardner, 88, of Lima, died at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011,at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
He was born Aug. 8, 1923 in Allen County, to Nellie Eleanor Albrecht and Lester Cole Winegardner. On April 23, 1943, he married Mary Jane Frisinger and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Jane Kidd, of Kenton, and Kathryn Louise ‚ÄėKathy‚Äô Hites, of Lima.
Jay J. Lenhart, 42, of Shadyside, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, after a battle with cancer.
He was the son of Norma (Gene) Gill, of Wapakoneta, and Thomas (Glenice) Lenhart, Sr., of Sidney.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. in the ballroom side. at the Eagles Lodge in Wapakoneta.
Donations may be made to Gilda‚Äôs Club in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Arrangements are being handled by Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd. in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Jean M. Lewis, 73, died suddenly after a brave fight against a very aggressive cancer on Nov. 3, 2011 at St. Rita‚Äôs Medical Center in Lima. She had recently returned to Bluffton to enjoy her retirement.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1938, the daughter of Catherine and Charles Bernard Lewis Bockrath.
Dale Eversman, 30, of rural New Bremen, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at his residence.
Arrangements are incomplete at Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Lawrence M. Laveen, 73, 11675 Wapak-Freyburg Road, Wapakoneta, formerly of Sidney, died at 8:34 a.m. Wednesday, Nov., 2, 2011, at St. Rita‚Äôs Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1937, in Columbus, the son of the late Virginia (Sexauer) and Daniel ‚ÄúPat‚ÄĚ H. LaVeen. On July 20, 1958, he was married to Emily Ann Cunningham. On Nov. 6, 1969, he was married to Della Marie Kindle. On March 15, 1972, he was married to Marjorie Johnson. On Oct. 21, 1978, he was married to Darlene Hefner. On Dec. 19, 1988, he married Carole (Warner) Eversman, who survives him.
