Eva I. DeLong, 88, of Wapakoneta died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at St. Rita‚Äôs Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Oct. 15, 1923, near Cridersville to Norma Fox and Russell Williams. On July 27, 1946, she married Clarence F. ‚ÄėWinnie‚ÄĚ DeLong, and he preceded her in death April 17, 1995.
Surviving are a son, Dennis (Jean) DeLong, of Wapakoneta; three grandchildren, Doug (Kelli) DeLong, David (Ashley) DeLong and Michele (Rob) Seidel; and three great-grandsons, David Thomas, Grant Matthew and Ethan Alexander Seidel.
John J. Smith, 83, of Battle Creek, Mich., passed away peacefully Sunday. April 8, 2012, at his home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Waynesfield, the son of Nellie and John Smith. On Oct. 20, 1951, he married Bernadette ‚ÄúBonnie‚ÄĚ Christen, who preceded him in death in 2004.
CRIDERSVILLE — New sidewalks are estimated to be in place and completed within the next week or two in Cridersville, the mayor says.
Crews are working on installing sidewalks in Cridersville to connect Main Street to the new Cridersville Elementary School on Reichelderfer Road.
“Work is happening on the west side of Carlisle Street and the east side of Reichelderfer Road,” Cridersville Mayor Lorali Myers said.
Myers noted she is pleased the project is almost complete, in time for the spring and upcoming walking season.

Wapakoneta resident and Vietnam War veteran Ralph Reynolds is raising funds to erect an 8-foot tall, 3-foot wide, 12-inch thick marble monument for the entrance at Veterans Memorial Park. The memorial would honor the soldiers who fought during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Eugene E. Kettler, 81, of Kettlersville, died at 1:12 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Fairhaven Home in Sidney.
He was born Feb. 19, 1931, near Kettlersville, the son of Ruth (Egbert) and Homer Kettler. On March 10, 1951, he married Ethel Mae Howell, who died on Oct. 11, 2008.
Surviving are two sons; Steven Kettler, of Botkins, and David Kettler, of Kettlersville; and two daughters, Sharon Lenhart, of Jackson Center, and Marianne Snider, of Botkins.
Virginia M. ‚ÄėGinny‚Äô Krites, 80, of Cridersville, died at 8:47 a. m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at St. Rita‚Äôs Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Lima, to Leademia (Spyker) and Charles F. Stevenson. On March 11, 1951, she married Robert C. Krites, and he survives in Cridersville.
