Eunice P. â€śPollyâ€ť Boggs 79, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at Auglaize Acres.
She was born May 4, 1933, in Zanesfield, the daughter of Laura M. (LaVan) and Clifford R. Chamberlain, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 27, 1951, she married Vernon D. Boggs, and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Also surviving are a son, Vernon E. (Linda) Boggs, of Van Wert; two daughters, Leona Tippie, of Wapaakoneta, and Julie (Roy) Long, of Wapakoneta; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers; and four sisters.
Student-athletes traveling to Wapakoneta High School to lift weights or work out prior to the start of classes soon should have fewer worries about violating the city’s curfew ordinance.
An amendment to change the end of the curfew to 5 a.m. from 6 a.m. was introduced Monday during the Wapakoneta City Council meeting for councilors’ consideration.
Council President Steve Henderson proposed the time change after receiving numerous calls from parents of baseball and football players.
A suspiciously packaged white powder prompted Wapakoneta High School administrators to contact the Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) for assistance.
Auglaize County EMA Director Troy Anderson was called to the school after a teacher found a “suspicious” envelope in a desk drawer. The envelope had white powder folded up inside and was discovered Friday morning a little before 11 a.m.
A local art center is gearing up for an annual exhibit — one that will now include a youth category.
The Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta will be accepting artwork on Friday and Saturday for the fourth annual Greater Wapakoneta Community Art Exhibit.
A member of the Riverside Art Center is pleased to announce that a special category has been added this year for the young artists in the community.
“We have several area youth that are very talented,” Riverside Art Center member Pam Knoch said.
Kathleen S. Hunsaker, 70 of Columbus, died at 10:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at her residence in Columbus.
She was born Jan. 22, 1942, in Lima, the daughter of the late Helen (Moorman) and Glenn Allen and Allen. On July 30, 1959, she married John N. Hunsaker, who survives in Columbus.
Mary June Hale, 92, of Jackson Center, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at Wapakoneta Manor.
She was born June 6, 1920, in Greenville, the daughter of the late Jenny E. Brandenburg and Jacob W. Minton.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia (Jerry D.) Myers, of Wapakoneta; a son, Jack Elliott, of Plymouth, Ind.; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Flo Ellis of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.

Cleopha Rose â€śCleoâ€ť Strete, 91, of Cridersville, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at St. Ritaâ€™s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born March 15, 1921, in St. Henry, the daughter of Anna (Selhorst) and Louis H. Lange, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 1, 1947, she married Ralph A. Strete Jr., who passed away Nov. 28, 1998.
Mildred M. â€śMillieâ€ť Bowsher, 96, of Wapakoneta, died 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
She was born March 29, 1916, in Prentiss, the daughter of Frances (Schroeder) and Hubert Niese, who preceded her in death. On May 3, 1943, she married Charles B. Bowsher, and he died May 5, 1990.
Robert Eugene Minnich, Sr. 78, of Lakeview, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday morning, Aug. 4, 2012, while at his home.
He was born April 9, 1934, in Stokes Township, Logan County, to the late Edna Wallace and Neil Minnich. In May of 1952, he married Judith Ann Smith, and she died in September of 2001. On Feb. 14, 2003, he married Opaline Trimble Watkins, and she survives.
