Life has taken a lot of unexpected twists for the man who was recently named pastor of the Uniopolis and St. Johns United Methodist churches.
Little did the man leading two churches, David Moore, realize early on in his life how the sport he loved would shape the way he loved.
A native of Lexington, Ky., Moore played high school baseball at Lafayette High School, a fairly successful program that has produced 10 minor leaguers, including current Major League Baseball player Austin Kearns.
A petition to surrender corporate power in Uniopolis was certified during a special meeting Friday of the Auglaize County Elections Board, while one to allow Sunday alcohol sales at a Waynesfield establishment was not certified.
The petition for the village of Uniopolis to surrender it’s corporation and dissolve needed 37 valid signatures to be certified by the Elections Board. With 60 valid signatures obtained, the petition is to appear on the November ballot.
While a former Wapakoneta High School student may have transferred to a school in Arkansas, members of a school activity will long remember and appreciate one of the last tasks he did.
Cody Wilges, the son of Gwen and Ed Wilges, recently completed a bridge in the nature center behind the high school for his Eagle Scout project.
“I talked to the cross country kids and asked them if they could use a bridge for their meets and practices,” Wilges said. “They said, ‘Yes.’ ”
A complaint, the nature of which is not being released at this time, has been made against a long-time Wapakoneta physician.
Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock told the Wapakoneta Daily News this morning that a Wapakoneta woman made a complaint to his office about Dr. Tom Freytag at the end of May or late June.
