As children get their last minute back-to-school supplies, an Auglaize County medical authority said thereâ€™s something else parents shouldnâ€™t forget.
â€śParentsâ€™ checklists should not only be about school supplies, but immunizations,â€ť Auglaize County Medical Director Dr. Juan Torres said. â€śAlong with getting school supplies and new clothes, families should make a quick vaccine visit to their primary care provider.â€ť
Torres recommended families check on the immunization status of their children.
Leo A. Mackesy, 91, of Lakeview, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday evening, August 23, 2012.
He was born on July 9, 1921, in Oilsprings, Ontario, Canada, to the late Alice Nelson and William Mackesy.
He also was preceded in death by two sons, Billy and Donny; two grandsons, Timothy J. and Donald W.; five sisters, Margaret, Dora, Kate, Mary and Ann; and six brothers, Bill, Tom, Jim, Jack, Pat and Frank.

Riley Warwick and her mother, Amanda Warwick, went to Veterans Memorial Park to swing and play on the equipment, but after they noticed a lot of trash laying around, the young girl started picking it up to make the playground clean.
“I wanted to pick it up to keep the earth healthy,” Riley said. “It’s called just being nice.

Jamie Lynn Rammel, 27, of Celina, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Mercer County Hospital in Coldwater.
She was born Dec. 10, 1984, in Coldwater, the daughter of Dona J. (Goodwin) Kaler and Richard â€śRalf Rammel. Her mother and step-father, Paul Kaler, survivie in Camp Hill, Pa. Her father survives in Celina.
Also surviving are a son, Brandon Hemmelgarn, of Celina; and two daughters, Lillian Hemmelgarn, of Celina, and Taylor Hemmelgarn, of Celina.
She was preceded in death by an infant child, â€śJunior.â€ť
Nettie M. Davis, 92, of Vandalia, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at Otterbein-Cridersville.
She was born July 28, 1920, in Logan County, the daughter of Martha (Giberson) and Frank Walters, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 8, 1939, she married Floyd L. Davis, and he died July 5, 2008.

A Waynesfield church congregation is banding together to help their pastor fight breast cancer and they are hoping others in the area will help.
Katie Hayes, the pastor of Waynesfield United Methodist Church, was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year after a misdiagnosis last year. By the time the cancer was diagnosed correctly, it had also spread to her lymph glands. In the past few months Hayes has undergone surgery and chemotherapy and is now receiving radiation treatments.
