SIDNEY — One coach says he was ecstatic with the play of his team, one coach says he was underwhelmed.

Michelle R. Geib 49, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at her residence.

Kathryn â€śKatieâ€ť Diedrich, 84, 318 N. Wayne St., St. Marys, died at 1:02 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at her daughterâ€™s residence in Jackson Center.
She was born April 12, 1928, in Moulton, the daughter of Opal (Katter) and Robert Crusie. On Aug. 29, 1945, she married Carmon Diedrich, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1989.
She is survived by three sons, Michael Diedrich, of St. Marys, Edwin Diedrich, of Sebring, Fla., and Terry Diedrich, of Coral Springs, Fla.; and two daughters, Deborah Wright, of Jackson Center, and Cindy Keeling, of St. Marys.
WAYNESFIELD — After hearing a brief presentation from the village’s engineering consultant, Waynesfield Village Council members elected to proceed with assessments to bring natural gas to the village — but not without objection.
This move brings the village one step closer to bringing natural gas to the village. Councilors now must decide on how they will assess property owners to help fund the project, which will be paid for the next four or five decades.
Several recent complaints from county residents about exploding targets prompted the Auglaize County sheriff to issue a statement today warning of the problems they pose.
The targets are designed to explode when shot with a certain caliber rifle. Also known by the name brand Tannerite, the targets are legally purchased at shooting supply stores.
“What we have discovered recently is target shooters are purchasing the mixture and mixing large amounts to make a huge explosion,” Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said.
A local facility received a special grant to implement a children’s reading program.
The Wapakoneta Family YMCA received a $2,500 grant from Dominion Gas, which will be used to implement a reading program through their before and after school program, a Wapakoneta Family YMCA official says.
“On behalf of the YMCA, we are grateful of Dominion Gas for recognizing our child care program,” Wapakoneta Family YMCA CEO Joshua Little said.
Opal C. Sproul, 90, of Waynesfield, died at 10:09 pm Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at Otterbein-Cridersville.
She was born Jan. 31, 1922, in Bellefontaine, the daughter of Goldie (Johns) and Paul Snook. On June 8, 1941, in Bellefontaine, she married Russell E. Sproul, and he preceded her in death Sept 12, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters, Victoria Agnew, of Waynesfield, Marsha Mangen, of St. Marys, Darlene Chiles, of Waynesfield, and Denise Green, of Celina.
John K. Burke, 95, of Glynnwood, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Glynnwood, the son of Julia (Cogan) and David L. Burke, and they preceded him in death. On May 3, 1952, at St. Patrickâ€™s Catholic Church in Glynnwood, he married La Vera Schumann, who survives.
Carolyn A. â€śTimmyâ€ť Timmerman, 81, of Lima, passed away Friday night, Jan. 25, 2013, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 23, 1931, in Lima, the daughter of the late Vera C. (McCune) and Marcus V. Alspaugh. On July 19, 1953, in Lima, she married Marvin E. Timmerman, and he preceded her in death in 1982.
Surviving are a son, Steve (LeeAnn) Timmerman, of Ada; a daughter, Lisa (Bill) McKinnon, of Lakeview; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Youngpeter.
