Kenneth Klor Gossard, 77, of Harrod, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
He was born May 3, 1945, in Wayne Township, Auglaize County, to Pansy Lucinda (Webb) and Charles Ercil Gossard. On June 29, 1957, he married Joan Beery, and she survives in Harrod.
A rare case of tuberculosis (TB) in Auglaize County is being investigated by local health officials to prevent its spread.
A man working at a Wapakoneta business was found to have contracted the disease and tests are being conducted on his co-workers and close personal contacts, Auglaize County Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons said.
She said earlier this week nurses tested 90 percent of the man’s co-workers.
“We have no results yet,” Parsons said. “All of his family contacts have been tested, also.”
Each polling location in the county is expected to have just one ballot box for the May primary.
Auglaize County Elections Board members discussed the option Wednesday during their regularly scheduled board meeting.
Auglaize County Elections Director Carolyn Campbell suggested they take one ballot box to each polling place except St. Marys.

Rose M. Coil, 89, of Wapakoneta, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Wapakoneta Manor.

Jane Ann Hudnall, 50, of Wapakoneta, formerly of Cedar Grove, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 11, 2013, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her mother, Phyllis Hudnall, of Wapakoneta; a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Mike Werling, of Wapakoneta; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Timothy and Renda Hudnall, of Ronda, and John Hudnall and his companion Kathy Davis, of Beckley; and several nieces and nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hudnall.
She was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Chelyan Church of the Nazarene.
After a successful finish to the 2012 shooting season, local Glenn Zimmerman is preparing for the Junior Olympics in Pistol Shooing in April.
The Junior Olympics competition are held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Zimmerman finished off his shooting season at Ohio State, at the OSU Junior Olympic qualifying match on December 22.
Zimmerman placed first in the .22 caliber sport pistol competition.
MINSTER — After participants in the Grand Health Challenge learned about healthy food choices last month at Pantry Pride, they went on location again this month to learn about healthy fitness choices.
On Tuesday, people visited the Wapakoneta Family YMCA, Auglaize-Mercer YMCA North, in Celina, and Auglaize-Mercer YMCA South, in Minster, and participated in tours of the facilities, including the weight room, cardio room, aerobic track and the pool area, along with a YMCA employee explaining each portion of the tour in depth.
The Auglaize County health commissioner’s contract was renewed for another two years during Tuesday’s meeting of the Auglaize County Health Board.
“It’s virtually the same contract I have had for 10 to 12 years,” Auglaize County Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons said after the meeting.
Health Board members approved the renewal after an executive session Tuesday morning.
The contract, for an approximate $85,425 annual salary, has no changes, Parsons said.
WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield-Goshen Board of Education members decided to refinance several school bonds to save district taxpayers thousands of dollars and take advantage of current lending rates.
Board members decided during Monday’s meeting to begin the process to refinance several bonds from 2006 based upon the recommendation of the board’s Finance Committee, which met at 6 p.m. just prior to the board meeting. Preliminary figures are showing the district could save as much as $268,000 by taking advantage of current rates.
