Arrests made in Uniopolis murder case

Three men, including a Wapakoneta resident, have been charged with aggravated murder in the death of a Uniopolis man in June.

During a news conference Friday morning, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon and Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney Ed Pierce announced the arrest of Aaron M. Dietrich Sr., 26, of Wapakoneta, Joseph Ray Furry, 30, of Van Wert, and James P. Dinsmore, 28, of the Allen County Jail, in connection with the death of 54-year-old Charles Hicks, of Uniopolis, on June 9.

WHS to hold a capella festival

Wapakoneta pulls away from Van Wert

In the final game of the Western Buckeye League schedule, the Wapakoneta Redskins turned a seven-point halftime lead, 24-17, into a 20-point win, 48-28, over the Van Wert Cougars.

Wapakoneta's Carly Buzzard had 17 points to lead all scorers on Senior Night, as the Redskins played their final home game of the regular season.

Riley Culver added eight points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Redskins, who ended the WBL season in third place with a 7-2 record.

Schlegel scores career-high 38 points

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — Wapakoneta native Heidi Schlegel scored a career-high 38 points in Youngstown State University's 79-73 win Thursday against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Schlegel, a 2010 Wapakoneta High School graduate, was 14 of 20 from the field, making all three of her 3-point attempts.

The 38 points are the eighth-highest single-game scoring total in Penguins history.

Auglaize Sheriff to hold news conference

Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon and Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney Edwin Pierce will be holding a News Conference at 10 a.m. Friday at the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

This News Conference will be addressing recent developments in the murder investigation of Charles Hicks who was found murdered in the village of Uniopolis on June 9th, 2014.

AIP Logistics appears in court

UPDATE 8:33 Court orders today's hearing to be vacated, rescheduled for March. 17 at 10 a.m.

Parties shall submit joint status reports informing the court on the progress of the case every 30 days beginning March 19.

The March 17 hearing is motion to intervene of the city of Wapakoneta.

Botkins Local Schools, Wapakoneta City Schools and Waynesfield-Goshen Local School are all on a two-hour delay for tomorrow, Feb. 19, 2015. There will be no AM preschool.

Cridersville to hold Park Committee meeting

The Cridersville Village Park Committee meeting will be held tonight at the Village Hall at 6:30 p.m. The main event, discussing what steps to further to on the complete redesign of Legacy Park, which is slated to happen later this year.

A two-car accident occurred at the intersection of State route 501 and Infirmary Road, about a half-mile north of Wapakoneta.
