New restaurant set to open in Lakeview

A longstanding restaurant that has been a staple in the community of Lakeview has gotten a facelift thanks to a new owner who transformed it from a nautical-themed seafood and steak restaurant to an upscale, casual Italian bistro.

J. Capitano's, formerly known as Captain's Point, will open its doors to the public Feb. 5, 6 and 7 for a soft opening, and will begin regular business hours starting Feb. 11.

David Harris Andrews, 26, charged with rape, gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor made his pretrial appearance in court with family here to support him.

Wapakoneta 50, New Knoxville 44, final

NEW KNOXVILLE — The Wapakoneta Redskins held off a second half rally by the host New Knoxville Rangers to post a six-point win, 50-44, in a non-league varsity contest Tuesday.

Maddi Stiles had 12 points to lead Wapakoneta (12-3), totaling two 3-pointers with six free throws. Megan Watt had two 3-pointers and tallied 10 points.

Volleyball rule changes in effect for 2015-16 season

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (January 26, 2015) — A new penalty system for an unnecessary delay in starting or resuming play in high school volleyball was approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Volleyball Rules Committee at its January 5-7 meeting in Indianapolis. 

Dog tag deadline extended

Auglaize County Dog Warden Russ Bailey has announced that the deadline to purchase dog tags without a penalty has been extended from Saturday, Jan. 31 to Monday, Feb. 2.

Police chief issues warning to those parked on street

January 27, 2015

Wapakoneta Police Chief Russel Hunlock is advising residents who have been parked on a city street for 48 hours or more to move their vehicles by this evening, Jan. 27. 

Due to Sunday's snowfall, several vehicles have remained on public streets without being moved, Hunlock said.

If they are not moved by tonight, drivers may be issued a parking ticket.

The 48-hour parking law is part of a city ordinance.
