A driver operating a stolen vehicle lost control and crashed into the northbound guardrail of the bridge while traveling southbound across North Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta, at 2:39 a.m. on Wednesday.
Wapakoneta police officers responded and discovered the vehicle at the intersection of North Blackhoof and West Auglaize St.
According to the report, Bradley Drexler, 31, of Wapakoneta, was operating a 2008 Mercedes-Benz owned by Mike Swaney Buick GMC. Drexler is employed by the car dealership. The vehicle sustained disabling damage.
Auglaize County is still in need of poll workers for the upcoming general election on May 6.
Board of Elections Director Michelle Wilcox said the staff as already had to move around and shuffle people in order to get the right amount of republicans and democrats at each polling site.
Deputy Director Peggy Matheny said this year she has seen more republican poll workers cancel out on her than democratic workers, which is a blessing in disguise because usually the democratic party is not as vast as the republican party is in Auglaize County.
LIMA — A first-inning grand slam by Alexis Schwartz was enough cushion for the rest of the game, as the Wapakoneta Redskins senior blasted a pitch over the wall in right field to give her team a 4-0 lead with zero outs in the frame.
The four runs proved to be enough as the visiting Redskins posted a 5-3 win Wednesday over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds in a non-league varsity softball game at Faurot Park in Lima.
The Wapakoneta Church of the Nazarene will hold its first ever Community Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, featuring a black light Easter egg hunt and several other activities for children up to grade five and their families.
The church is located on the corner of Benton and Court Streets, and the event will run from 1 to 3 p.m.
Senior Pastor Stephen Ambrose said the event was planned as a way to engage with members of the community.
