W-G rolls Ridgemont to open tournament

KENTON — A fast-paced, energized start by the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers helped them cruise to a 70-27 win Tuesday over the Ridgemont Golden Gophers in a Division IV girls basketball sectional semifinal at Kenton High School.

In a matchup of two Northwest Central Conference teams, the Tigers shot out to a 21-1 lead after the first period, as Kenzie Jarnagin hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for her seventh point in the opening period.

St. Henry owns 2nd half, beats Wapakoneta

ST. HENRY — The Wapakoneta Redskins had been playing their best ball of late, winning four of their last six contests as the postseason is just around the corner.

The Redskins were on a hot streak of sorts, until Tuesday night.

Wapak ran into another Midwest Athletic Conference team, in the St. Henry Redskins, who dominated the second half Tuesday in their 57-38 win in a non-league varsity boys basketball game.

H. Jeffrey Harrod, 44

H. Jeffrey Harrod, 44, died Monday morning, Feb. 17, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 17, 1970, in Lima, the son of Harold “Barney” and Julie (Setser) Harrod. His parents survive in Wapakoneta. On April 21, 1990, he married Barbara J. Horman, and she survives.

Donald Hinegardner, 72

February 19, 2014

Donald Hinegardner, 72, died at 7:07 a.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, in Lima Memorial Health Care System. He was born Nov. 26, 1941, in Lima, to William and Opal Laing Hinegardner. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Lima. On June 26, 1960, he married Karen Sue Gossard, who survives in Wapakoneta.

Cattlemen celebrate banner year

At the 2014 Auglaize County Cattlemen’s Association Banquet, Jay Clutter announced that he will be stepping down as president of the organization.

“I’ve enjoyed being your president for the past three years, but I think it’s time for somebody else to have the pleasure to do so,” Clutter said.

Auglaize County Cattlemen’s Association Treasurer Vicki Winkler applauded Clutter’s efforts and asked if he would reconsider.

New rules on the way for health board

The Auglaize County Health Department Board of Health met Tuesday morning for their monthly meeting.

Curt Anderson, the director of the environmental health department opened the meeting up with offering the board members an idea of new regulations regarding sewage systems.
