After 20 years of planning and installing an image of the Auglaize County Fairgrounds, the largest remaining project is in-the-works — the new show building.
The 100 by 150 foot building will be used during the fair week to accommodate large animal shows or two smaller shows at the same time, fairgrounds manager Fred Piehl said.
This Saturday, the Wapakoneta Rotary Club is hosting its fourth annual wine and dine event at the Grand Plaza, located at 913 Defiance St. The event starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $50 a piece.
Rotary Club vice president Nicole Bowen said this is the largest fundraiser they do each year and the funds raised support the club’s commitment to the Wapakoneta High School tennis courts.
St. Johns Volunteer Fire & Rescue will hold its first-annual casino night on Saturday, Feb. 15 as a fundraiser for new equipment.
Volunteer firefighter Brian Schlosser said the department needs to update its Self Contained Breathing Apparatus’ (SBCA’s), as well as some other equipment.
Games that will be available at the event will be Texas Hold ‘Em, Blackjack, Roulette and Silent Poker. There will also be a silent and live auction.
Sandwiches and chips will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.
