WAYNESFIELD — The supplemental contracts for three coaches and one music director were approved during a regular meeting of the Waynesfield-Goshen Board of Education on Monday evening.
Head boys track and field coach Jim Epperly, volunteer assistant girls basketball coach Janet Patton, pit orchestra director Klayton Hilleary and assistant track coach Brian Shaw were all approved by the board based on the adopted supplemental salary schedule for the 2013-14 school year.
A Michigan man is in custody after he allegedly robbed a Wapakoneta Subway restaurant Monday night.
At approximately 5:07 p.m. Monday, the Wapakoneta Police Department received a phone call from employees at the Subway at 1401 Bellefontaine St., regarding a robbery. A male subject reportedly entered the store, produced a weapon and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene heading east on Bellefontaine Street in a mini-van with Michigan license plates. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the store.
Steinke Family Chiropractic is hosting its second annual Have a Heart dinner at 7 p.m. tonight at the Wapakoneta VFW.
The dinner is free, but donations are welcomed.
Emily Ailes, head chiropractic assistant at Steinke Family Chiropractic, said the event is open to the public and donations will go to Oklahaven Children’s Chiropractic Hospital in Oklahoma City.
“We do a campaign, so if they come to dinner they can donate,” Ailes said. “We also bless our guests by inviting them into our office.”
Robin Emrick, 48 years of age, passed away Feb. 8, 2014, from Parkinsonism, a degenerative brain condition for which, at present, there is no known cause or cure.
Robin was born in Washington, District of Columbia, Oct. 5, 1965. She attended Holy Cross High School in Kennsington, Md. (Class of 1983) and was a graduate of Denison University (Class of 1987). At Denison, Robin was an active member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and many other campus organizations.
Virginia Kantner, 89, of Wapakoneta died at 12:44 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima. She was born on April 12, 1924 in Shelby County, Ohioto Theodore L. & Eva L. (Barns) Kaufman who preceded her in death.¬† On Aug. 9, 1942 she married Aldo D. Kantner and he passed away on March 13, 1981.
Survivors include two sons; Dennis & Jeffry both of Wapakoneta, a sister Vera Hall of Sidney and a brother Robert Kaufman of Jackson Center.
She was preceded in death by a son Gary Kantner, two sisters Ethel Kempfer and Peg Schmoll and a brother Charles Kaufman.
Carol Dunlap-Reis, 70, of 09138 Burr Oak Road in Wapakoneta, OH died Thursday Feb. 6, 2014, at St. Rita‚Äôs Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
She was born March 4, 1943, in Celina to Hubert Byron and Margaret Alice (Burd) Davenport.
Survivors include:¬†¬† daughter Lisa Byers¬† of St. Marys, daughter Theresa Dunlap¬† of Lima,¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† ¬† son Ed Dunlap¬† of Wapakoneta; 11 grandchildren;¬†¬†¬† 13 great-grandchildren; sister Nina (Howard) Barnhart¬† of Cloverdale.
Paul Adrian Helmlinger, 91, of Botkins, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014. He was born in Shelby County, Ohio to the late Adam Ernest and Anna Louise (Ambos) Helmlinger. He was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Esta E. (Alexander) Gies; his brother and sister-in-law Kirby A. (Bonnie) Helmlinger; and a nephew Paul F. ‚ÄúFritz‚ÄĚ Gies.
