Estimates sought on restrooms at gazebo

With a grant in hand and some funds set aside, a city administrator now is seeking more detailed estimates to construct two restrooms in a building to serve a gazebo at Harmon Park.

John Goudy, 75

July 9, 2013

John “Jack” Goudy, 75, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:32 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born in Wapakoneta, to Gertrude (Kupper) and Norval Goudy, who preceded him in death. In 1958 he married Marlene (Gudorf) Goudy at St. Augustine Church in Minster, and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Elois Chambers, 72

July 9, 2013

Elois S. Chambers, 72, died at 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born April 6, 1941, in Henry County, to Doris (Upell) and Loren A. Copus. On Nov. 7, 1959, she married Richard W. Chambers, who survives in Cridersville.

Lowell Frische, 78

Lowell H. Frische, 78, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, and was greeted in Heaven by his beloved wife, Gloria J. (Kidwell) Frische, whom he married on Nov. 3, 1962.
He was born in Wapakoneta on June 9, 1935, to Thelma (Covert) and Ervin Frische. He is survived by two sons, Michael Frische and Matt (Holly) Frische, two grandchildren, Molly and Andrew Frische, and a brother, Kenneth (Marilyn) Frische.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit (Esther) Frische, and Robert (Ruth) Eshelman; and a sister, Joyce (Robert) Winney.

Twelve young women this year plan to transport the Miss Summer Moon queen pageant audience back in time — to the year Wapakoneta native son Neil Armstrong took man’s first steps on the moon.
The pageant is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. July 17 at the Wapakoneta Performing Arts Center as the 12 young women compete for the title of Miss Summer Moon 2013 and the chance to reign over the Summer Moon Festival this year and the city of Wapakoneta for the next year.

Tower prompts concerns

John K. “Jack” Goudy, 75, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:32 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Wapakoneta Manor.
Arrangements are incomplete at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Wapakoneta.

Gerald Harrison, 80

Mr. Gerald “Buzz” Harrison, 80, of Griffin, Ga., passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Spalding Regional Hospital.
He was born in Wapakoneta on June 23, 1933. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and LaVera Metz Harrison.
Mr. Harrison was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired as the Regional Vice President and Manager for Central Insurance Company in Boston after 33 years of service. Additionally, he was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was also a member of the Over 50 Group and the Knights of Columbus.

Rule changes made to prep track and field

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The installation of pole vault planting box padding permitted under Rule 7‐5‐24 will be a requirement in high school track and field beginning with the 2014‐15 season.

This was one of 13 rules changes approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Track and Field Rules Committee at its June 10‐12 meeting in Indianapolis. All rules changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association abides by NFHS rules.
