Emergency state lifted

CRIDERSVILLE — The state of emergency for the village of Cridersville has been lifted.
Mayor Lorali Myers announced shortly after noon on Thursday she was lifting the state of emergency for the village — placed in effect after high winds in excess of 85 mph and a possible tornado hit the center of the village.

Jamboree goes on

CRIDERSVILLE — Despite Wednesday’s storm causing extensive damage in the village, Cridersville village administrators continue to move forward with plans for this weekend’s 49th annual Firemen’s Jamboree today and Saturday.

Wapak teen remembered as sweet, caring

Tim R. Hull 48, of Wapakoneta died at 1:54 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta, where arrangements are incomplete.

Michael Knief, 55

Michael R. Knief, 55, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at his home.
He was born Dec. 3, 1957, in Sidney, but had been a lifelong resident of Vero Beach, Fla., briefly moving to Berryville, Va., before returning to Vero Beach.

Sylvia Haggard, 95

July 12, 2013

Sylvia Haggard, 95, of Lima, died at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Logan County, to Edith (Moots) and Ollie McKee. On June 21, 1938, she married Donald Haggard, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1987.

Jack Schrolucke, 63

July 12, 2013

Jack Schrolucke, 63, of Spencerville, died 12:19 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 24, 1950, in Lima, the son of Rosemary J. (Sutton) and Robert E. Schrolucke, who preceded him in death. On July 21, 1972, he married Dianna S. Seibert, who survives.

Emily Ann Saam, 17

July 12, 2013

Emily Ann Saam 17, of Wapakoneta died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident at State Route 501 and Linzee Road.
She was born in Lima on June 3, 1996, to Kelly and Alex E. Saam Jr. and Jennifer E.(Rhodes) and John Ickes, both of Wapakoneta who survive.

CRIDERSVILLE — With tree limbs and branches strewn throughout yards, roofs torn off of buildings and broken shards of glass on the sidewalk, Cridersville Mayor Lorali Myers walks down the center of the street conversing with residents as she makes her way to the Cridersville Fire Department — the command center after a unconfirmed tornado ripped through the village.
“We will be OK just as long as nobody is hurt,” Myers says assuring one resident along West Main Street as she walks with a quickened pace. “Everyone seems to be OK and that is good.”

2nd high wind storm hits Wapakoneta
