Officers with the Wapakoneta Police Department and members of the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) took two men into custody at approximately 6:30 p.m. after a nearly 3 1/2 hour standoff in Wapakoneta.
Brad Pastor, 35, of Wapakoneta, formerly of Paulding, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.
Arrangements are incomplete at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding.
Leonard E. “Leo” Hauser, 66, of Wapakoneta, died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville after battling cancer.
He was born Dec. 21, 1946, in Los Angeles, to Merle V. (Kelly) and Byron A. Hauser, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Ellen (Michael) Engle, of Wapakoneta, and Elaine (Amy) Hauser, of Columbus; a son, Byron A. Hauser, of Columbus; three grandchildren, Justin, Erin, and Lillian; and two brothers, Clifford (Christine) Hauser, of Tucson, Ariz., and Wayne (Roxanne) Hauser, of Oregon.
Owen Michael Moran, of Wapakoneta, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, shortly after birth at the Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
He was the son of Jacob & Nichole (Phillips) Moran, of Wapakoneta.
In her fifth year at Botkins Local Schools, the school district’s treasurer is learning the responsibilities of her position continually change.
Along with rules and regulations changing on a yearly basis, Jody Jones is seeing her responsibilities increasing even more as the district tackles a new building project.
The district recently passed a levy to build a new school with the Ohio Schools Facilities Commission (OSFC) program. and planning is currently underway as the project’s groundbreaking is scheduled for April.
FORT LORAMIE — With the extension to the 2008 Farm Bill, area farmers have decisions and options to consider, area farming specialists say.
Executive directors and staff of Farm Service Agencies (FSA) of Mercer, Auglaize and Shelby counties provided information and answered questions for farmers during a special tri-county informational meeting held Tuesday at St. Michael’s Hall in Fort Loramie.
The first steps to divest the local school district of a building on Pine Street took place Tuesday.
Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education agreed Tuesday to move forward and take the initial steps to place the former Board of Education building and bus garage at 3 N. Pine St. on the auction block. Board members authorized Operations Director Mike Watt to begin the process to auction the school building and property that location with a reserve price to be set.
Rosemary Klosterman, 93, of Wapakoneta, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta.
She was born March 22, 1919, in St. Marys, the daughter of Alice (Davis) and Isadore Roth, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 8, 1938, she married James L. Klosterman Sr., and he died March 11, 2011.

BOWLING GREEN — The goal of four Redskin seniors when the high school wrestling season started was for all of them to qualify for the coveted state wrestling tournament.
The tournament referred to as “State” by most wrestlers is a goal of many but only realized by the top 16 wrestlers in each weight class in the entire state of Ohio.
The director of Auglaize County Veterans Services knows first hand about the men and women she is serving.
Lynne Skaggs is a veteran.
So is her husband, as well as her father, her grandfather, her great-grandfather, her uncles, her brother and cousin. One of her uncles was killed in Vietnam.
Her husband Todd’s father, grandfather and brother also have served in the U.S. military and the couple is likely to have a future veteran growing up in their house.
