As clouds of dust dotted the sky along Townline Lima Road, a Clay Township farmer’s heart ached as he watched friends and neighbors harvest his soybeans.
“This is true love here,” Don Regula said with a smile as tears formed in his eyes.
“It’s neighbors helping neighbors,” he said as he talked about the 30 people who came to help, taking a day off school or work, and in many cases a perfect day off from harvesting their own beans to help another farmer in need. “These guys have all got acres and acres at home and they gave up their fuel, equipment and time to help me.”

Faced with a 4th-and-32, the Wapakoneta Redskins needed a miracle to keep their drive and Homecoming victory hopes alive, and they got one.

On the long fourth down conversion, Wapak senior running back Zach Schmerge made a 42-yard catch and run on a screen pass from quarterback Kodi Morgan, weaving his way through Celina defenders behind a wall of Wapak offensive linemen.

The conversion led to a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter Friday in their 29-26 win over the previously unbeaten Celina Bulldogs.

Masons and laborers with Heyne Construction, of Minster, were at work Thursday throughout the new dog shelter.

He said once the roof is on, they can get interior work going.
“There is a lot of masonry to do,” Koch said. “The masonry and interior work, roof and exterior shell will take time.”
Koch said it is it a pretty simple building overall.
