WG boys win league championship

WAYNESFIELD —  The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers varsity boys track team held off the Fairbanks Panthers in an exciting finish at the Northwest Central Conference  track meet.

The Tigers had a team score of 172, while the second place Panthers posted a 167.

W-G’s Eli O’Leary and Drew Lament shared the meet MVP title.

Joshua Wingate, 32

Joshua J. “Josh” Wingate, 32, of Cridersville, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19, 2013, in rural Auglaize County, from injuries sustained in a pedestrian-auto accident.

Fire strikes CTL Engineering

May 19, 2013

  • At approximately 4:30 p.m., Wapakoneta Fire Department personnel responded to a fire at CTL Engineering on County Road 25A South. The fire was limited to an outside wall and attic.
  • Crews extinguished the blaze in less than an hour and were working to determine the cause.
  • Wapakoneta Police Department officers and Auglaize County Sheriff's Office deputies blocked County Road 25A to limit traffic in the area of the fire.

Redskins fall in WBL finale, used game as teaching moments

BATH —  The Wapakoneta varsity softball team has already advanced to the Miller City district and will play Maumee after defeating Celina Wednesday.

The Redskins were locked in third place in the Western Buckeye League.

Wapakoneta varsity coach Bill Sammons saw Friday’s WBL finale a great chance to give the team some looks of adversity and some situational softball.

Staff warned: 'It can happen here'

For those who say it can’t happen here, a local police chief says it can and it has.
On March 6, 2006, anyone at Wapakoneta High School was in danger when a student brought an explosive device made from a gasoline can to school in his backpack.
