Bill stops ‘illegal gambling’

State Rep. Tony Burkley, R-Payne, said the newly-signed House Bill 7 will have the consequences that were indicated all along — shutting down illegal gambling.
The Ohio House of Representatives approved House Bill 7 in March by a 66-29 vote and the move was later approved in the Senate by a 27-6 vote. Gov. John Kasich signed the bill into law May 29.

Roger Roediger, 81

June 10, 2013

Roger Dean Roediger, 81, died at 1:48 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013.
His life was a gift to all who knew him.
Mr. Roediger was born Sept. 10,1931, in Wapakoneta, to Ruby (Wentz) and Alfred Tobias Roediger who proceeded him in death. Mr. Roediger was a 1949 graduate of Blume High School. On July 29, 1953, he married Evelyn M. Kantner at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Wapakoneta. They had a loving relationship.

Computer class may be requirement

In an effort to better prepare Wapakoneta HIgh School students, a new graduation requirement is being proposed.
Wapakoneta High School Principal Scott Minnig recently suggested that computer applications be made a mandatory class. He said that an important skill for today’s work force is being able to use technology.
“At the high school, we like to make sure kids are prepared,” Minnig said. “What we have heard is some are lacking computer skills.”

WCS opposed to voucher system
