Sam Swartz, 74

July 10, 2013

Sam Swartz, 74, 690 Hillcrest Drive, St. Marys, died at 10:20 p.m. Monday July 8, 2013 at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born July 11, 1938 in St. Marys, to Cynthia (Davis) and Samuel Swartz, who preceded him in death. On April 25, 1965, he married Kathryn Katterhenry, who died Feb. 18, 1990.
Surviving are a son Paul (Sue) Swartz, of St. Marys; three grandchildren: Chelsey, Corey and Nick; a brother, Charlie (Sue Ellen) Swartz, of St. Marys; a sister, Melody Thrush, of St. Johns; a sister-in-law, Janet Swartz of St. Marys; and several nieces and nephews.

BWC issues rebates

Representatives from the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation (BWC) visited Wapakoneta Monday to alert Auglaize and neighboring counties of rebate checks that will start coming in the mail to businesses and municipalities paying into the system.

Estimates sought on restrooms at gazebo

John Goudy, 75

July 9, 2013

John “Jack” Goudy, 75, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:32 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born in Wapakoneta, to Gertrude (Kupper) and Norval Goudy, who preceded him in death. In 1958 he married Marlene (Gudorf) Goudy at St. Augustine Church in Minster, and she survives in Wapakoneta.

Elois Chambers, 72

Elois S. Chambers, 72, died at 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born April 6, 1941, in Henry County, to Doris (Upell) and Loren A. Copus. On Nov. 7, 1959, she married Richard W. Chambers, who survives in Cridersville.

Lowell Frische, 78

Lowell H. Frische, 78, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Blanchard Valley Hospital, and was greeted in Heaven by his beloved wife, Gloria J. (Kidwell) Frische, whom he married on Nov. 3, 1962.
He was born in Wapakoneta on June 9, 1935, to Thelma (Covert) and Ervin Frische. He is survived by two sons, Michael Frische and Matt (Holly) Frische, two grandchildren, Molly and Andrew Frische, and a brother, Kenneth (Marilyn) Frische.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit (Esther) Frische, and Robert (Ruth) Eshelman; and a sister, Joyce (Robert) Winney.

Twelve young women this year plan to transport the Miss Summer Moon queen pageant audience back in time — to the year Wapakoneta native son Neil Armstrong took man’s first steps on the moon.
The pageant is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. July 17 at the Wapakoneta Performing Arts Center as the 12 young women compete for the title of Miss Summer Moon 2013 and the chance to reign over the Summer Moon Festival this year and the city of Wapakoneta for the next year.

Tower prompts concerns
