‘Boys in Blue’

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, “Boys in Blue” is an opportunity for visitors to the Auglaize County Fair to learn more about their local Civil War heroes.
The exhibit, located at the Gary Log House historical site at the fairgrounds, gives locals a chance to interact with historical artifacts and view photographs and biographies of people who lived during the Civil War.

James Geis, 64

July 31, 2013

James P. Geis, 64, 16550 Buckland River Road, Wapakoneta, died at 7:35 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at his residence, following a nearly two year battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 15, 1948, in Sidney, the son of Cleopha (Nuss) and Bernard Geis. He married Debora Potbury on June 27, 1975, and she survives at the residence.

Ryker Bryan, stillborn

Ryker James Bryan was stillborn at 6:53 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He is survived by his parents, Cassie J. (Romero) and Royce K. Bryan, of Wapakoneta; maternal grandparents Melissa and Matt Henderson, of Wapakoneta; and paternal grandparents Denise Miller and Robert Bryan, of Wapakoneta.
A private family service will be held at the Shawnee Alliance Church at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Ryker.

Kenneth Kramer, 69

Kenneth J. Kramer, 69, of rural Wapakoneta, died unexpectedly Sun.day, July 28, 2013, at his family farm.
He was born May 24, 1944, in Sidney. He was the son of the late John and Emma (Lindhaus) Kramer. He was a graduate of Botkins High School, and served with the U.S. Army in Germany and the United States. On Sept. 4, 1965, he married Nancy K. Krites in Wapakoneta. His wife of 48 years survives on the family farm near Wapakoneta.

Robert “Wes” Orphal, 66

Robert “Wes” Orphal, 66, went home to be with the Lord on July 27, 2013 in Cape Coral, Fla.
He was born in Lima, on Dec. 30, 1946, son of Robert Gene and Marguerite (Hunt) Orphal of Wapakoneta, who preceded him in death.
