Storm to hit area

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Auglaize County and the surrounding areas. The watch is in effect until 2 a.m. Thursday.
The storm is expected to bring rain and lightning, hail, high straight-line winds up to 70 mph and heavy amounts of rain contributing to flooding.

Negative stereotypes affect more than people who are overweight, they also affect the people treating them, a top Auglaize County medical official says.
Auglaize County Medical Director Dr. Juan Torres said according to research by Raquel Pau published in the International Journal of Obesity, patients being treated by an overweight or obese physician tend to follow stereotypes when it comes to them, too.

Cold cools WaterPark numbers

Cathy Miller, 64

June 11, 2013

Cathy Lynn (Rhodes) Miller, 64, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:15 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 30, 1948 in Galion, to Lois M. (Bauer) and Harry E. Rhodes, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Christopher Miller, of St. Marys; and two daughters, Tara Cook, of Wapakoneta, and Tabitha Kilmer, of Dayton.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, 1175 E. Greenville Rd., St. Marys, with the Rev. Raymond Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in St. Marys.

Bradley Oen, 63

Bradley A. Oen, 63, of Wapakoneta, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 26, 1949, in Lima, the son of Anna Eileen (Anthony) and James Oen, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his step-mother, Nancy Oen, of Wapakoneta; four siblings, Kevin (Cecilia) Oen, Eric (Kimberle) Oen, and Becky (Larry) Curtis, all of Wapakoneta, and Amy (Eric) Eichner, of Beavercreek; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Bill stops ‘illegal gambling’

State Rep. Tony Burkley, R-Payne, said the newly-signed House Bill 7 will have the consequences that were indicated all along — shutting down illegal gambling.
The Ohio House of Representatives approved House Bill 7 in March by a 66-29 vote and the move was later approved in the Senate by a 27-6 vote. Gov. John Kasich signed the bill into law May 29.
