Magistrate hire OK’d

WAYNESFIELD — Here comes the judge.
Waynesfield Village Council members approved a resolution hiring a magistrate Monday, paving the way for village officials to begin paperwork to reinstate mayor’s court in the village.
Police Chief Nathan Motter asked councilors to approve the hiring and to approve a fine schedule for traffic violations, a move councilors passed unanimously by a 6-0 vote.
The magistrate approved was attorney Robert Gryzbowski, who is also the magistrate for the village of Cridersville.

Course added to grad requirements

Garman placed on 7-day disabled list

Brian Garman saw his time on the mound halted until next month, as the Wapakoneta native was placed on the 7-day disabled list Monday.

Garman is a pitcher for the Huntsville Stars, a Double-A minor league baseball team of the Southern League based in Huntsville, Ala.

Garman’s first win of the season came June 16 against the Chattanooga Lookouts in a 3-1 victory. He pitched one inning and did not allow a baserunner.

At the time he was placed on the DL, this season Garman had 1-0 record, a 4.25 ERA and 22 strikeouts.

ACME: Wapak avenges loss to Minster

Wapakoneta ACME overcame a brief 3-0 deficit by scoring seven straight runs in a 7-4 win over Minster ACME on Tuesday in baseball action at Wapakoneta High School.

The two teams are battling for the top seed in the sectional tournament which starts Sunday.

Tuesday’s win gave Wapak a 10-6 record, while the loss put Minster at 9-3-1. Wapak’s first loss this summer came June 11 in a 5-2 defeat at Minster, so each team has a three-run victory over the other.
