Frieda Siegenthaler, 85

Frieda N. Siegenthaler, 85, of West Liberty, died at 8:33 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital, in Bellefontaine. Born Feb. 19, 1928, in Columbus, the daughter of the late Nelle (Hagans) and Herman Carl Kaestner. On Nov. 24, 1946, she married Vaughn Leland Siegenthaler and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1991.

WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield residents crowded the Waynesfield Village Council chambers Monday, but the hot topic focused on animals.
Twenty-eight people attended Monday’s council meeting as councilors prepared to hear the first reading on an ordinance that would designate more clearly what animals are restricted from being within the village limits. After most of the residents voiced concern over the restrictions, councilors again tabled the issue and asked people attending to offer feedback to councilors before they begin steps to put restrictions in place.

Airport continues clean-up

ACME: Wapak outdone by Shawnee, 9-2

SHAWNEE — Wapakoneta ACME did not have the type of start they wanted to have during an important week of baseball.

The Shawnee ACME team bested Wapakoneta, 9-2, on Monday, as they each prepare for tournament action this weekend.

Wapakoneta will host Minster at 6:30 p.m. today in a battle for the sectional tournament’s first seed, in the second of five straight games in as many days this week.

The loss on Monday drops Wapakoneta to 9-6 overall on the summer season, while the win moves Shawnee to 11-3 this summer.
