Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools Superintendent Chris Pfister is one of several school administrators scheduled to testify in front of the state’s House of Representatives Primary and Secondary Education Subcommittee concerning Kasich’s recently released new funding model for public schools.
No easing into this year’s Auglaize County Fair schedule, the Auglaize County Agricultural Society, or Fair Board, secretary says, the entertainment and livestock shows should start “with a bang” on Sunday and should continue with an exciting schedule the entire week “without easing up.”

Mildred F. Steele, 86, of Wapakoneta, died at 4:33 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Pineville, Ky., the daughter of Sarah (Partin) and Luther Evans, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 25, 1953, she married Earl âBudâ Gannon, and he died Sept. 9, 1961.
Irene I. Lunz, 90, of Wapakoneta, died at 9:55 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born June 12, 1922, in New Bremen, the daughter of Lydia Elizabeth (Schneider) and Glendor Charles Jung, who preceded her in death. On June 12, 1946, she married Elmer A. Lunz, who died July 24, 1973.
Surviving are a daughter, Diane E. Lunz, of Wapakoneta; a son, Donald R. Lunz, of Ottawa; two sisters-in-law, Louise Jung, of Wapakoneta, and Sue Jung, of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Homer W. âPeteâ Helmlinger, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Auglaize Acres.
He was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Auglaize County, the son of Malinda (Knarr) and William S. Helmlinger, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 16, 1945, he married Cleola Carter, and she survives. They just celebrated 68 years of marriage.

A man found dead at his Fryburg home Friday, appears to have died of natural causes, although the investigation continues, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said this morning.
Solomon this morning released additional details surrounding the death of Michael L. McClintock, 60, of the home in the village southeast of Wapakoneta.
McClintock was found dead at the residence Friday morning by a relative. Deputies were dispatched to the scene at 8:30 a.m. and didn't leave until approximately 6 p.m.

The steer, with a sable black coat, walks the show ring as Wapakoneta High School student Kerrie Miller grips tightly on the reins. She works the steer into the best position for judging, taking advantage of past experience gained at past shows to sharpen her skills even further during the Moon City Preview, sponsored by the Wapakoneta Young Farmers and the Wapakoneta FFA Alumni.
