Apollo Career Center senior cosmetology instructor Tasha Sheipline, who also serves as the managing cosmetologist at the school, received an appointment this March by Gov. John Kasich to serve a 5-year term on the State Board of Cosmetology. She is a representative for career technical instructors.
CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced two arrests Wednesday morning in the double homicide of Robert Grube, 70, and his daughter Colleen Grube, 47, of east Fort Recovery, after a 16-month investigation.
The victims were found bound with duct tape and dead from gun shot wounds on Nov. 30, 2011 in their home by a family member.
Richard Bowersock, 92, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Roselawn Manor, where he had resided for the past two years.
He was born May 2, 1920, in Salem Township, Auglaize County, to Viola McMillen and Grover Bowersock, who preceded him in death. On July 1, 1940, he married Dorotha Irene Smith, who died Dec. 6, 2005.
Surviving are three daughters, Konita G. “Connie” Klaus, of Spencerville, Barbara I. Crites, of Spencerville, and Laurie E. Ball, of Spencerville.

With a group of local high school students in the midst of learning about investing and the stock market, they received a lesson on the free market from a person who is a college graduate with an economics degree and a U.S. representative.
U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, discussed federal budget issues and other challenges on Capitol Hill with students in Bill Dellinger’s economics class Tuesday at Wapakoneta High School.
The new treasurer for Wapakoneta City Schools says she is looking forward to the position and ready for the challenges it will bring.
Angie Sparks, 36, of Wapakoneta, was unanimously hired Tuesday by Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education members for the position of treasurer with a starting salary of $71,000 beginning June 1. Her three-year contract ends July 31, 2016.
Until she takes over the role, Sparks is working with treasurer Susan Rinehart, who is retiring at the end of May. During Sparks’ training, she is to be paid $250 per day.
WAYNESFIELD — Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools students experienced a new twist to their old career day format as they participated Tuesday in a Career Fair in the high school gymnasium.
The school district, which has been hosting a career day for 15 years in the community, typically had students listen to presentations from area professionals in different classrooms throughout the day.

An employee of the state of Ohio Auditor’s Office working in the region is expected to be hired as the new treasurer of Wapakoneta City Schools.
The district’s Board of Education members are expected to vote on the position today during their regular monthly meeting to be held at Wapakoneta Elementary School.
A county agency’s partnership should be able to help area residents save money when purchasing their prescriptions.
The United Way of Auglaize is teaming up with FamilyWize Community Service Partnership, which is a nation-wide service that provides a free prescription drug discount card to help make prescriptions more affordable.
Wapakoneta Police Department personnel are investigating the possibility that someone intentionally poured a chemical down the hallway of a local motel.
Guests staying in 10 rooms and one employee were evacuated from the building when the call came in at 8:07 a.m. Monday from someone at the hotel.

Darlene E. Petty, 62, of Piqua, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.
She was born June 9, 1950, in Lima, to the late Eugene and Dorothy (Stover) Hefner. On Sept. 23, 1988, in Troy, she married Darin “Scott” Petty, and he survives.
Also surviving are a sister, Anna (Pat) Gibson, of Wapakoneta; three brothers, Dana (Cheryl)Hefner, of Whitehall, Tony (Vicki) Hefner, of Wapakoneta, and Loren (Kris) Hefner, of Perrysburg; father- and mother-in-law, Mitch and Janice Petty, of Piqua; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; and four God children.
