Auglaize County Engineer Doug Reinhart plans to close a portion of County Road 25A on Wednesday and Thursday in order for a piece of equipment to be delivered to a Wapakoneta business.
Reinhart told the Wapakoneta Daily News he would advise motorists to use Hardin Pike and Interstate 75 to avoid the road closure, which will occur south of Wapakoneta.
A Wapakoneta city administrator will be given the power to purchase items when needed or to answer an emergency if a piece of legislation is adopted tonight at the Wapakoneta City Council meeting.
Council members are scheduled to hear the third and final reading of an ordinance to authorize Safety-Service Director Bill Rains to advertise for bids and to enter into contracts for specific materials, service contracts and equipment rental for the operation of city departments.

For the first time in 30 years, the Auglaize County engineer is taking out a loan for bridge replacement projects.
“I’m not comfortable with taking a loan out for the first time, but in this case I have to,” Auglaize County Engineer Doug Reinhart said. “I don’t want to create debt for the county or the next engineer, but it adds up to me needing to move forward with this.”
The loan from the Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) is for $176,000, to be combined with a county match of $44,000. Interest on the 20-year loan is zero percent and it would be repaid at less than $9,000 annually.
Three young girls and two cats were the inspiration for a painted mural placed in the upper level of a local downtown shop.

Edward J. “John” Hut, 65, of Wapakoneta and Ft. Myers, Fla., died at 1:20 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, in Lima, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 17, 1947, in Wapakoneta, to Pearl (Hale) and Phillip Hut, who preceded him in death. On Aug. 30, 1973, he married Andrea Ryan, and she survives in Wapakoneta.
Paul L. Schumacher, 74, 07947 Southland Road, New Knoxville, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Golden Living Center.
He was born Sept. 22, 1938, in New Weston, the son of Gertrude (Guggenbiller) and Oscar Schumacher. On Oct. 20, 1962, he married Janice Schrolucke, and she survives at the residence.
Oliver Andrew Hershberger, infant son of Trena (Argabright) and Andrew Hershberger, of Sidney, was stillborn at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Oliver is survived by a brother, Owen Hershberger (age 5), at home; maternal grandparents Carol Argabright, of Sidney, and Talford Argabright, of Jackson Center; paternal grandparents Milly and Tim Hershberger, of Wapakoneta; and great-grandparents Rowena and Lowell and Mohler, of Sidney.
Donald Eugene Ruble, 71, of Belle Center, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Belle Center, the son of the late Geraldine (Royer) and Alpha Ruble. On Dec. 31, 1960, he married the former Essie F. Butler, and she survives.
