The Wapakoneta Redskins are looking to regain health in a hurry because they are falling behind in the Western Buckeye League wrestling standings, possibly to the point already where they cannot win the regular season title.
The team took its second loss in league play Thursday in a 46-27 defeat to the Bath Wildcats and also landed a sound 55-12 win over the Elida Bulldogs in a WBL tri-match at Elida High School.
After watching the Elida Bulldogs dominate the style of play and scoreboard, Wapakoneta Redskin varsity coach Rusty Allen preached to his team to slow down, regain their composure and take over the tempo in the Western Buckeye League matchup.
Allen acknowledged there had to be nervous fans as the Bulldogs came out hot and scored on their first four possessions and hit 9-of-15 from the floor, but he was not one of them.
Instead of a heavy snow storm, Auglaize County and the surrounding area will be receiving heavy rain from Mother Nature. Due to the heavy rainfall predicted in addition to the snowmelt, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Auglaize County starting late tonight through Sunday morning. The snowmelt has elevated streams and the additional water will increase the flood threat.
The NWS is predicting between 1.5 inches and 4 inches of rain to fall between tonight and Saturday night.
