How nice of a Bazaar

A few volunteers prepare wooden penguins with Wapakoneta Redskins and Ohio State Buckeyes written on them while another group of volunteers put some finishing touches on center pieces with candles and globes.

The St. Joseph Catholic Church Sewing Club is preparing for this year’s Christmas Bazaar to be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Brown backs Senate farm bill effort

Fire strikes MEI

November 21, 2013

A materials fire at Midwest Elastomers Inc. on Wednesday morning caused an undetermined amount of damage at the plant, Wapakoneta Fire Chief Kendall Krites said this morning.

Nine firefighters from the Wapakoneta Fire Department and five firefighters from the Uniopolis Fire Department responded to the blaze which started shortly before 9 a.m. Wapakoneta crews were back at the fire station at 11:15 a.m.

Alfred A. Bustetter, 93

Alfred A. Bustetter, 93, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at The Gardens, of Wapakoneta.  

He was born July 27, 1920, in Auglaize County, the son of Frances (Fischer) and John Bustetter, who preceded him in death.  On June 6, 1945, he married Loretta I. Seitz, and she died Nov. 21, 2011.

Redskins crack all-time records leaderboard

Members of the 2013 Wapakoneta Redskins football team appeared in the top five of varying school records upon the conclusion of the season earlier this month.

Two different players set a total of three new schools records.

Senior linebacker Zach Schmerge set a new Wapak mark for most career fumble recoveries with eight, while junior defensive end Thomas Schoenlein owns the school’s career records for most tackles for loss, 47, and most sacks, 15.
