Janice A. Myers, 77, of Cridersville, died at noon Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Lima to Derwood and Genevieve Arnold Aspinall, who preceded her in death. She married Ned Edward Myers in 1953 who survives in Cridersville.

WAPAKONETA TRICK OR TREAT has been changed noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 due to expected inclement weather conditions on Thursday, Halloween, Wapakoneta Mayor Rodney Metz declared today.

Miller's buys Sun Industrial

Sun Industrial Chemical Inc, a business that has been in operation in Wapakoneta for nearly 30 years, will be under new ownership beginning Friday. The company sold to Miller’s Textile Service.
“I’d like to thank all our customers, and especially Wapakoneta, for its cordialness and support over the many years,” owner Pat Koester said.
Sun Industrial Chemical has been providing commercial cleaning products and hygienic paper supplies in 12 counties, with Auglaize County and Wapakoneta serving as the main “hub.”

Dinner supports area cancer group

ST. MARYS — All year long, the Cancer Association of Auglaize County (CAAC) provides nourishment for cancer patients who are losing weight due to treatment, but Friday the group will feed the community at large while raising the money to support those patients for the rest of the year.
Its annual spaghetti dinner, in its 10th year, is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the St. Marys Eagles Club.

Poppe: Hasan case exposes conflict in Bill of Rights

Representing the man who is responsible for the worst mass murder on a military base in U.S. history and who wants to die for his crimes, his attorney says military justice officials are now realizing a conflict can arise from the U.S. Constitution.
Lt. Col. Kris Poppe, who had an informal discussion with members of the Auglaize County Bar Association Tuesday, said the trial of Maj. Nidal Hassan, who killed 13 people and shot nearly three dozens others, brings into conflict two provisions in the Bill of Rights.

Wapakoneta moves from 1st to 3rd in region

After three straight weeks as the top team in their region, the Wapakoneta Redskins moved to third in the penultimate weekly computer ratings for prep football, released Tuesday by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

Wapakoneta (8-1) was ranked first in Division III, Region 10 from Oct. 8 until Tuesday.
