Molding Ohio

Using their fingers to mold salt clay into hills and flatten it into plains, gave Wapakoneta Elementary School fourth-graders a 3-D look at their home state.
“They can actually see what it looks like,” their social studies teacher Connie Ferenbaugh said.
While students had seen a lot of different representations of Ohio in pictures and books and online, she said this project lets them actually see the state and understand its terrain up close.

Barnett gets sentenced for manslaughter

‘Side by Side’ affair

Photography and watercolors do not typically coincide in a piece of artwork, however, at Riverside Art Center, the two will be hanging “Side by Side.”
Watercolor painter Barb Sailor, of Jackson Center, and photographer Pamela Baker, of Spencerville, are collaborating in Riverside Art Center’s upcoming exhibit, “Side by Side.”
The two artists met in 2010 via fineartamerica.com, a website where anyone can browse through other artists’ work. 

Visits help justice formulate her rulings

Ruth E. Lee, 89, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
Arrangements are incomplete at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.

Wapakoneta completes 1st ever unbeaten season

With a 5-0 win over the Ada Bulldogs, the Wapakoneta Redskins completed the first undefeated season in program history Tuesday, finishing the 2013 season with a 16-0 record in match play during the regular season.

The unbeaten mark punctuated an already accomplished season which saw Wapak go 9-0 in Western Buckeye League matches, take first at the WBL tournament and clinch the WBL championship for 2013.

Redskins vault to 2nd place in region

The Wapakoneta Redskins, after their win Friday over the previously unbeaten Celina Bulldogs, vaulted to second place in their region Tuesday as the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the second version of the weekly high school football computer ratings.

Wapakoneta (4-1) has won three straight games and sits behind only Mount Orab Western Brown in Division III, Region 10.

The Redskins were sixth in the region in the first ratings release Sept. 24.
