ST. MARYS — The age of a dog at the center of civil suit determining ownership spiraled into the organization defending its right to maintain a three-day ownership rule and the questioning of a Wapakoneta organization’s non-profit status.
Auglaize County Municipal Judge Gary Herman heard witness testimony for more than three hours Tuesday and was forced to schedule the case continued until 1:30 p.m. Feb. 7.

Gladys Amelia (Stroh) Fledderjohann, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012.
She was born Oct. 16, 1921, in her childhood home near New Knoxville the daughter of Ella (Vordermark) and Vernon Stroh.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Michael, of Madison, Wis., Nancy Archer, of Sidney; and two sons, Larry Fledderjohann, of New Knoxville, Jay Fledderjohann, of New Knoxville.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville, with the Rev. David Michael officiating.
Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Frances C. Keysor, 93, formerly of 17674 Moulton-Fort Amanda Road, Wapakoneta, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012 at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home.
She was born March 9, 1918 in Plymouth, Mich. the daughter of Mary (Knuth) and Daniel Miller, who preceded her in death. She married J. Delmar Keysor, who is deceased.
Homeowners in three townships can join an association which enlists the help of the Wapakoneta Fire Department as a responder to the area.
Pusheta-Washington Townships Mutual Fire Protective Association board members started a recruitment drive to enlist more members into the organization.
Wapakoneta police officers are investigating a domestic violence situation, which involved a stabbing.
Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock said that an 18-year-old female called for assistance shortly before 9:40 a.m. Sunday after an argument escalated at the apartment she shares with her boyfriend on Edgebrook Drive.
The woman, who suffered minor injuries according to the police officer’s report, called concerned about events that transpired after she yielded a steak knife in her defense, the police chief said.
CRIDERSVILLE — An area tree commission is taking beautification of the village through a step-by-step process.
Cridersville Tree Commission President Ken Dreitzler recently unveiled the board’s plan for work on Main Street.
“There are 10 to 11 trees that should come down because of crackage, blocking view of intersections and other issues,” Dreitzler said during a recent report to Cridersville Village Council.
The intensity at both ends of the floor by the Wapakoneta Redskins led to a flood of points early, drowning the Indian Lake Lakers Monday in varsity girls non-league basketball action.
Pressure defense and a quicker trigger on the offensive end powered the Redskins to a 74-43 win as Wapak forced nine first half turnovers and junior guard Nicole Brown hit for a game high 20 points including tying a record six 3-pointers.
The boys are still undefeated.
The girls are still sitting on just one loss.
The Wapakoneta Redskins are — pardon the pun — bowling over the competition.
Wapak’s boys team improved to 11-0 with a pair of wins in West Ohio High School Bowling conference varsity action Saturday at Varsity Lanes in St. Marys.
The Redskins remain in first place in the conference, just ahead of the also-unbeaten Versailles Tigers. Wapak and Versailles will square off in the regular-season finale Saturday, Feb. 11 at 20th Century Lanes in Lima.
The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys swimming finished fourth, and the girls seventh, at the Wapak/Celina Invitational on Saturday.
Ottawa-Glandorf, Celina and Ada were the top three teams in the 20-team boys meet.
Shawnee, Lima Central Catholic and Celina made up the girls top three out of 14 teams.
The boys grabbed a win and a second-place finish in the freestyle relays.
Nate Hager, Ryan Kremer, Brandon Christler and Ryan Greve won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:42.02. They teamed up again to take second in the 200 with a time of 1:37.38.

Wapakoneta Education Association (WEA) members re-enforced their position on contract negotiations Saturday during a public forum with Wapakoneta City School Board of Education members.
Board members officially conducted two meetings, the first being the district’s annual re-organizational meeting. The second meeting was used for discussing employment of personnel and negotiations, all discussed in executive session. However, the public comment section of each meeting highlighted the morning’s talks.
