The local judge charged with overseeing the budget for the Auglaize County Common Pleas Court says it is hard to predict what funding will be needed in 2013.
Judge Fred Pepple requested $229,193 in his budget for next year during a meeting Tuesday with the Auglaize County commissioners. It is the same amount his office requested for 2012.
The highest costs reflected in the budget include $141,000 for employee salaries, $22,000 for juror fees, $21,150 for employee benefits, and $11,000 for contract services.
WAPAKONETA — The Lima Senior Spartans travelled to Wapakoneta to take on the Redskin’s boys basketball team, and the athletic ability of the Spartans proved to be too much for the ‘Skins.
The Spartans, led by senior guard Devon Allen who had 20 points, were able to down the undefeated Redskins, 64-58.
Wapakoneta city officials reviewed a list of street projects completed in 2012, but there is only one project set for 2013 — the $2.1 million East Auglaize Street project.
Wapakoneta City Council Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks Committee members, city administrators and other city officials Tuesday conducted a year-end review of street and sidewalk projects undertaken in 2012.
The Auglaize County Agricultural Society, or Fair Board, memberes again discussed the possibility of moving the county fair to June.
Traditionally, the fair has been held the last week on July, though a change in the date is not unprecedented. However, moving it into June would be the earliest date the fair has started.
Auglaize County Fairgrounds Secretary Fred Piehl said the discussion during Monday’s Fair Board meeting does not center on board members trying to push through or a move that they are actively seeking.
Janet Noreen Sawmiller, 77, of Waynesfield, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday Dec. 3, 2012, at Shawnee Manor in Lima.
She was born May 3, 1935, in Lima, the daughter of the late Nellie (Gossard) and Lewis Newland. On Dec. 28, 1957, she married John Sawrniller, and he survives.
Surviving are a son Jed Sawmiller, of Spring Valley; and a daughter, Jill Stubbs, of Lima.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Armentrout Funeral Home in Waynesfield, with the Rev. Gordon Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Branch Cemetery.
Mary C. Kennedy, 80, of Wapakoneta, formerly of Botkins, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born June 2, 1932, in Gainesville, Fla., the daughter of Mollie (Whiddon) and Jehu McComb, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 5, 1955, she married Robert Kennedy, and he died Dec. 9, 2000.
Cynthia A. ‘Cindy’ Bayliff, 75, of Cridersville, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health Systems.
She was born May 25, 1937, in Gallipolis, the daughter of the late Ruth Evelyn (Spencer) Champlin and Franklin Tompkins. On July 5, 1957, she married John E. Bayliff, who survives.
